Work and Family Roles

Family roles clearly have different effects on men’s and women’s work roles, and there is a difference in the way men and women experience conflicts between the two roles. For women, there is less of a boundary between family and work, as family roles spill over more into their work life. For men, work and family are more separated; however, emotional strain from family interactions often has a negative effect on a man’s performance at work.
